February 11, 2011

This morning, I am participating in a conference call to select the next class of Oral Health Kansas Dental Champions.  As a Dental Champion alumnus, I take great pride in the opportunity to help select this group of people for the next class and to see such a outstanding group of people who have accepted the invitation to become leaders of oral health in Kansas.

Some of these people I have worked with closely over the years and some I am being introduced to for the first time.  All bring a desire to become dental champions and to join those who have gone through this program in its four classes.

I have always valued the role of leadership, but after working through the dental champions program, I have found the importance in both studying and applying the principles of leadership in my work and in my personal life.  The opportunity given to me to participate in the program and then to attend the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs was truly a life altering experience which granted me the permission to pursue much of what I have done at the KDA, the KDCF, and many of my other avenues of service over the past few years.

Some of you reading this may be in this next class of Dental Champions.  I sincerely hope you have the same outcome as I did.
